The Rogers Royals snagged their first three wins of the season, then lost in the finals of the Mound-Westonka tournament on Saturday.
The host White Hawks stayed unbeaten (6-0) by tipping the Royals 23-25, 25-18, 15-7 in the championship match.
The Royals (3-4) squeezed past Woodbury 25-27, 27-25, 15-13, then nipped Spring Lake Park 25-22, 25-23, and outlasted St. Anthony Village (a 7-2 team) by 25-20, 19-25, 15-13.
Lizzy Meyer made 25 kills and nine solo blocks in the tournament. Claire Martinez added 22 kills and Maleia Ysteboe 18. Abby Folk made 86 kills. The team had 17 aces against 12 misses in 222 serves. Martinez served 10-for-11 with four aces against SAV. Bailey Waldhoff was the primary setter.
Rogers will host Buffalo on Tuesday.
