The Rogers Royals were blanked by Maple Grove 2-0 at home on Saturday, falling to 1-4-1 for the season.

“Maple Grove is always tough for us. They are a physical, tough team,” said Rogers coach Holly Sutton.

Maple Grove (4-1-1) picked up a goal in each half. Moriah Morrisette delivered on a penalty kick in the first half, and Kailey Beatt booted one in the second half. Marissa Hamilton was in goal for the shutout.

The Royals have been outscored by just 6-4 in six games but all four goals came in one game. The other five were shutouts.

“We just haven’t learned how to score,” said Sutton.

Their best scorer, senior Gabby Moter, sidelined all season due to a hip injury, is expected back for the Sept. 18 game against Buffalo.

The Royals will host Duluth East on Monday at 5 p.m.
