Cross country: Spectrum girls 3rd, boys 9th at Rockford meet

The Spectrum girls cross country team placed third among seven teams in the Rockford Invitational on Thursday.

The Sting had Noelle Diekman in 14th place with 16:58, Kayla Zimmerman 15th with 16:58, Rebecca Peterson 17th with 17:01, Marissa Kulk 19th with 17:14, and Emily Nelson 25th with 17:37.

Orono won with 44 points, followed by Providence Academy 49, Spectrum 89, Watertown-Mayer  92, Mayer Lutheran/Lester Prairie/Winsted Holy Trinity 105, Delano 131, and Concordia Academy 193.

Liz Miller, junior from Watertown-Mayer, was individual winner in 15:05.
Next for the Sting is the St. Francis Invitational next Thursday.

The Spectrum boys place ninth among nine teams.  Chad Schwinghammer was 22nd with a team record 17:29. Nathaniel Hackbarth was 36th (18:13), Austin Owens 50th (19:16)  John Brand 51st (19:17) and Mathew Hoffman 55th (19:38).

Orono won with 23 points, followed by Delano 63, Mayer Lutheran/Lester Prairie/Winsted Holy Trinity 101, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 112, Providence Academy 114, Rockford 140, Watertown-Mayer 152, Concordia Academy 199, and Spectrum 214.

Individual winner was Paul Brachle, Orono senior, with 15:46.
