A winless Rogers team dueled an unbeaten Cambridge-Isanti team and both teams had the zero erased from their ledger.
The Royals won the Mississippi 8 match 2-1 at home, improving to 1-4 and dropping the Bluejackets to 5-1.
“They’re a good team, but they have not played the kind of teams we’ve played,” said Rogers coach Chris Miller.
Isaac Aanerud scored on a penalty kick, and Mitch Steeves made it 2-0 off a good crossing pass from a teammate, in the first half.
Kenny Kalk led a solid defensive effort, with C.J. Rich in goal.
“It’s good to get not the win column. It’s a start,” said Miller.
The Royals will play at Anoka on Saturday, 11 a.m.
