Football: Sting lose to Kimball 49-0 in debut
The first-ever game for the Spectrum Sting football team was a humbling experience as the Kimball Cubs beat them 49-0 on Friday evening in Kimball.
The Sting had just 65 total yards from scrimmage.
Kimball’s Troy Filzen scored on runs of 15 and 33 yards. Connor Wittenburg had a 53-yard punt return and four-yard run for touchdowns.
This marks the first time Spectrum has fielded a football team by itself. The Elk River charter school had a paired team with PACT Charter in 2009.
The Sting will play at St. Paul Humboldt next Friday at 5 p.m.
