The Elk River girls had a goal overturned by a penalty and lost their conference opener to the Andover Huskies 1-0 on Thursday evening in Andover.
An apparent goal by Abby McDonald, off a pass from Logan Daulton, was disallowed when Daulton was called for offsides. Elk coach Brian Steuter said he viewed the tape several times and felt the officials might have missed on that call.
Daulton had another good opportunity two minutes later from just outside the box, and the Huskie goalie got her fingers on it and tipped it over the upright.
The Elks other best chance was a shot by McDonald that hit the near post in the 38th minute.
The Huskies (4-0) stayed unbeaten on a goal by Taylor Hedin in the 64th minute. She got the ball after an Elk turnover at midfield, outran the defense to the net and punched it past Brienna Dehkes.
The Elks (2-2) will host Anoka on Tuesday.
