Soccer: Andover hands Elk boys first loss 2-0

The Elk River boys were bumped from the unbeaten ranks by the Andover Huskies 2-0 on Thursday evening in Andover.

Two days after an emotional 1-0 win over Wayzata, the Elks didn’t look nearly as sharp.

“After that big win over Wayzata, we played sloppy, and we played slow, tonight. We didn’t play smart,” said coach Tom Olson.

Andover (2-1) scored in the 10th and 65th minutes (names not available). Meanwhile, the Elks only challenged the Huskie goaltender once and he made the stop.

“We’ve probably gotten away with a couple ugly wins so far, too,” said Olson. “But a 3-1 record is still pretty good.”

The Elks will host Anoka on Tuesday.
