The Elk River tennis team opened conference play with a 7-0 win over the Park Center Pirates on Tuesday in Brooklyn Center.
The singles lineup, and their scores, was Michaela Schultz (6-2, 6-2), Jenn Koehler (6-1, 6-2), Alyssa Karavitch (6-0, 6-0) and Annika Teske (6-0, 6-0) at one through four. Teske, a home-schooled freshman, is new to the Elks lineup.
The doubles lineup was Becca O’Connell/Hadley Purdey (7-5, 6-4) at one, Lauren Brayden/Kathi Opsahl (6-1, 6-2) at two, and Brooke Burns/Rebecca Lieser (7-5, 6-2) at three.
The Elks (1-1) lost their opener to Minnetonka 5-2 there Saturday. Schultz won 6-3, 6-1, and Teske won 6-1, 6-3. Minnetonka, ranked No. 2 in the metro area, is a perennial metro power that’s placed in the top four at state for five straight years.
The Elks face Anoka in their home opener on Thursday.
