Duluth Marshall went 3-0 to capture the trophy.

Thunder coach Jeff Downing said the Thunder defense looked “confused” during the match with Marshall, which had four players score: Megan Coughlan, Alli McKenna, Kelly Alworth (two) and Ellie Peters. The Thunder never got on track and struggled to control possession.

A poised Grand Rapids side used support well to outpace Zimmerman, starting with a goal in the fourth minute. It was 1-0 at halftime, and the Spuds pulled away in the final 40 minutes. ErinCasey had two goals and Shanna Hopkins, Emily Olson, and Kary Sheppard one each.

Downing said his team was fatigued in the second half and not able to  compete with the long ball played from the back.
