Police report: 1,200 pounds of steel stolen, gun reported in WalMart parking lot and an unusual lawn ornament is lifted
1,200 pounds of steel beams were stolen
Steel beams weighing approximately 1,200 pounds have been reported stolen in Elk River, according to Elk River Police Capt. Bob Kluntz.
Several of the steel “I” beams were taken sometime Tuesday night, Aug. 14, from Superior Iron in the 17000 block of Ulysses Street. The steel is worth about $750.
Man reports he saw gun in parking lot
A 18-year-old man was in the WalMart parking lot in Elk River when he had a verbal disagreement with a group of males. He reported that one of the males exposed a gun to him, Kluntz said. Afterwards the group of males left in unknown vehicles.
The incident was reported to police at 1:02 a.m. Aug. 19.
Police have no suspects at this time.
Unusual ‘ornament’ lifted from local lawn
An unusual lawn ornament has disappeared from an Elk River yard.
The lawn ornament is a Suzuki Water Buffalo motorcycle frame that was being used as a lawn ornament in the 10000 block of 175th Avenue.
It was reported stolen to police on Aug. 15, but is believed to have been taken during the week of July 2-8.
Pellet or BB gun does damage to windows
Damage was reported to a building in the 17000 block of Tyler Street in Elk River. The building was shot at with what is believed to have been a pellet or BB gun, Kluntz said. Four windows and one glass door were damaged.
The incident was reported Aug. 20.
Woman, 21, arrested for DWI in Elk River
A 21-year-old woman was arrested for DWI after police stopped her vehicle for making a lane change without signaling and for window tint. The officer observed signs of intoxication in the driver and she failed field sobriety tests.
The stop occurred at 2:17 a.m. Aug. 19 at Highway 169 and 193rd Avenue in Elk River.
Man was passed out cold in store restroom
Police were called to Cub Foods in Elk River at 2:10 a.m. Aug. 16 after a patron went into the restroom and didn’t come out.
Police located a man passed out on the restroom floor. Officers woke him and observed signs of intoxication. The man said he had walked to the store from Time Out Restaurant and Sports Bar and was waiting for a ride. Police took him home..
Man, 19, arrested for DWI after a stop
A 19-year-old man was arrested for DWI and charged with additional violations after an officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment and moving violation. The driver had allegedly been drinking, according to the police report. The stop was made at 2:29 a.m. Aug. 18 at Upland Avenue and Highway 10 in Elk River.
Stop sign violation turns into a DWI
A 51-year-old man who was stopped for a stop sign violation ended up being arrested for DWI. The stop occurred at Main Street and Gates Avenue in Elk River at 1:20 a.m. Aug. 18.
Man arrested after alleged knife threat
An Elk River man, 33, was arrested for assault and terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife during a domestic dispute. Elk River Police had been called to the home at 6:20 p.m. Aug. 17.
Excavator window broken in Zimmerman
GL Contracting reported Aug. 15 that a window had been broken out of an excavator that was parked at Zimmerman Elementary School. The damage is estimated at $850.00, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department.
