Thirty-six teams of five players apiece, 180 total, took part in the Quarterback Club’s annual fundraising golf tournament for Elk River football on Friday, Aug. 3.

The winning team was Chris Prosser, Brad Grupa, Mike White, Dave Bleyhl and Steve Johnson with a score of 54 at Elk River Golf Club.

Runner-up were Kurt O’Konek, Ryan Servaty, David Carlson, Dan Johnson and James Baldwin with 56.

Placing third were Aaron, Terry and Tim Osterman along with Brian Thompson and Eric Ostmoe with 57.

A group of four former Elk coaches — Gordy Purmort, Walt Schumacher, Terry McLean, and Paul Gustafson — teamed with Jim Nord to shoot 60.

NHL player Paul Martin (Pittsburgh Penghins) and former NHL player Joel Otto (Calgary, Philadelphia) were among the ex-Elk athletes participating. They also played in the Youth Hockey Associations tournament two weeks earlier.
