Rockie Lynne, a country rock singer known for tributes to the troops, will entertain in Elk River next Thursday, 7 p.m., in the Riverfront Concert Series.
Lynne, a North Carolina native now based in Coon Rapids, served three years in the Army before embarking on his music career.
One of his albums is “Songs for Soldiers,” all odes to military personnel with a third of proceeds going to troop charities. He is co-founder of an annual motorcycle caravan called Tribute to the Troops that visits families of fallen soldiers and raises money for them.
The single “Lipstick” from his first, self-titled album was a No. 1 song. His blend of contemporary country, melodic pop and anthemic rock is sometimes compared to Keith Urban.
