Baseball: Elk Legion blanks Becker 6-0, playoffs next

Joey Hudson and Tucker Morrell tossed a shutout as Elk River Legion closed the regular season with a 6-0 victory over Becker on Wednesday evening, clinching a first-round bye in the playoffs.

The Elks were 7-2 in league play and take a 14-6 overall mark into sub-districts. Their first game will be Tuesday in St. Cloud.

Hudson threw five innings (three hits, four strikeouts) for the win, and Morrell the final two (two hits, one strikeout.)

Brady Givens went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple, and Sam Krick 3-for-5 with an RBI double. Nick Johnson singled home a run, and Matt Baker and Terry Hadden had RBI’s on base-loaded walks.

The Elks left 14 runners on base, including bases loaded three times in innings they didn’t score.
