Cold Spring pitcher Reed Pfannestein silenced Elk River Legion bats on Monday evening, leading the Springers to an 8-1 win over the Elks in Cold Spring.
“He threw in the upper 80’s and had a good curve. It was tough for our guys to adjust,” said Elk coach Josh Juntunen.
Pfannenstein struck out nine while allowing five hits and two walks. The lone run came in the fifth when Tim Sanford singled and scored on Sam Krick’s double. Carter Harrop was 2-for-3 for the Elks.
Tanner Anderson ripped a single and triple for Cold Spring, scoring two runs and driving home two.
Terry Hadden took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) in five innings. Brady Givens gave up two unearned runs in the sixth inning.
Elk River, 6-2 in league and 13-6 overall, will close the regular season at Becker on Wednesday evening.
