Harley owners will collect food for CAER
The Elk River-based Harley Owners Group (HOGs) will make an encore appearance at this year’s Elk River Independence Day celebration.
The club collected a truckload of food for the CAER food shelf at last year’s event, but this year the group hopes to pack a trailer full for CAER.
The dealership began collecting June 16 and will continue to collect through July 7, when they will hold a cookout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the dealership. There will be food and live entertainment by Cowboy Killers.
Members of the HOGs will also collect at the Fourth of July event by setting up in the Elk River High School parking lot.
They will also have the Jump Start trailer on site to familiarize non-riders with what it is like to sit on and ride an actual motorcycle, and a HOG Bike Show.
“People can vote for their favorite bike,” said Mike Hangaard, a member of the group. “The winner of the contest will receive a gift certificate from either Harley or Dairy Queen.”
As part of the HOGs’ ongoing community outreach efforts, members of the group will be talking to folks about motorcycle awareness and sharing the road.
They also plan to have a cash donation barrel for those who forgot to bring a food donation for CAER.
