Uncategorized Elk River 13’s baseball team wins Omaha tournament Published June 29, 2012 at 9:39 am The Elk River Elks 13AAA took first place in the 2012 Battle of Omaha tournament the week of June 21-24, going 5-0. In pool play, the Elks won 8-0 over the San Antonio Reds and 5-1 over the Houston Warriors Elite. In the quarterfinals they beat the San Antonio Reds again, 5-0. In the semifinals they beat Libertyville Illinois 9-1. In the championship game, the Elks faced the Illinois Edge out of Chicago. The Edge took an early 5-0 lead. The Elks cut the lead to 5-4. The Edge regained a 9-4 lead. The Elks scored five runs in the last of the sixth to tie the game at 9, only to see the Edge score two in the top of the seventh for an 11-9 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Elks rallied with a bases loaded double to tie the game at 11. With the bases loaded again, two outs and two strikes, the Elks got a walk off single up the middle to win 12-11. The Elks players are Wyatt Morrell, Nick Perbix, Connor Hogan, Cam Cotto, Cole Daleiden, Joey Halvorsen, Benton Maass, Blake Hills, Logan Gacke, Davis Monohan, Tyler Billman, Caden Gatlin, and Cooper Lewis.
