Baseball: Pioneers take second straight beating

The Elk River Pioneers had a humbling week, losing to Blaine 12-2 last Saturday and St. Michael 18-2 on Wednesday, slipping to 3-7 overall.

Aaron Pipenhagen took the loss against Blaine despite a good outing, as he allowed one run in three innings before his arm tightened up. Alex Hoff and Lance Johnson finished. Hoff hit a two-run double and Brendon Meyer was 2-for-4. Blaine’s winning pitcher was Wilson (no first name provided).

In the loss to St. Michael, Jim Brown took the loss, and Harley Thompson and Brandon Giese finished. Giese was 3-for-4 at the plate and  pitched well, allowing two runs in three innings.

Four Pioneers played in the North Star League All-Star Game in Loretto on Friday evening. They were Corey Kaminski, Pipenhagen, Johnson and Tucker Morrell.
