Baseball: Morrell leads Elk Legion in 11-0 win at St. Augusta

Tucker Morrell pitched four shutout innings, and Brandon O’Connor and Matt Baker knocked in three runs each, as Elk River Legion won 11-0 over St. Augusta in five innings on Thursday evening.

Morrell struck out seven and walked two in becoming the first Elk to pick up his second win. Seven other pitchers have a win each. Morrell also was 2-for-2 plus two walks, scoring two runs.

O’Connor had RBI’s on a double and two ground outs, going 1-for-3 plus a walk and hit-by-pitch. Baker smacked a two-run double and sacrifice fly, also finishing 1-for-3.

The Elks are 5-1 in league and 9-3 overall.

Next is the Delano 4th of July tournament. In pool play, the Elks on Saturday  face Delano at 10 a.m.and  Osseo at 2 p.m., and on Sunday they face  St. Louis Park at 8 p.m. Semifinals will be held Tuesday and finals on Wednesday. The Elks also have a league game at  home Monday vs. St. Cloud 76ers, 6:15 p.m.
