High water closes Anoka County launches along Mississippi River

The Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department has again closed the public boat launches at Mississippi West Park in Ramsey, Riverfront Regional Park in Fridley, and Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park in Coon Rapids due to dangerously high flow rates on the Mississippi River.

According to the Three Rivers Park District, which operates the Coon Rapids dam, the strong current at the boat ramp has washed away the safety buoys.  They will be replaced once the flow rate drops below 20,000 cubic feet per second.  The city of Champlin’s boat launch at Mississippi Point Park is also temporarily closed.

For the latest information on the status of the boat launches, contact the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department at 763-757-3920.
