Police report: Car versus train results in DWI

Elk River police were called to a car-versus-train crash shortly after 5 a.m. June 10. Burlington Northern Santa Fe reported hitting a car near the Main Street railroad crossing. Upon arrival, police checked the car and the area and found no occupants. Several minutes later a 19-year-old Elk River male was located. The driver stated that he was not injured and that his car got stuck on the tracks. He was subsequently arrested for DWI.

A fish tale he’d rather not have to report
A 44-year-old Elk River man reported on June 7 the theft of fishing equipment from his black and white 2008 18.5-foot Ranger fishing boat.

The items were taken sometime between May 27 and June 1 while it was parked at his residence in the 19000 block of Xavier or while on a recent trip to Green Bay. The loss has been estimated at more than $5,000.

Fireworks found, turned into police
A 55-year-old Elk River woman on June 6 dropped off some illegal fireworks she had found. The police department took custody for disposal.

Police investigate coin store burglary
Elk River police were called at 11:19 a.m. on June 11 to M-C-M Coins in the 900 block of Highway 10 for a report of a burglary. Suspects entered the store and stole cash and jewelry. Police are investigating.

Dam control box on Main Street damaged
Elk River police took a criminal damage to property report June 11 after someone allegedly damaged a control box cover that controls one of the dam locks at the Main Street dam.

Teenagers allegedly flee accident scene
A 62-year-old Elk River man reported at 1:45 p.m. June 10 that his parked vehicle was struck by another car. After confronting the other driver, the complainant reported that the two teenage occupants in the suspect vehicle fled the scene and damaged a mailbox. The suspect vehicle should have damage to both front and rear ends.

Police respond to Highway 10 rollover
Elk River police and the Minnesota State Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle rollover shortly after midnight June 10 in the 22000 block of Highway 10. Upon arrival police located one vehicle rolled over in the right lane with the driver walking around complaining of head pain. Another vehicle was stopped south of the scene. This vehicle was driven by a woman who hit debris from the rollover and damaged her right front tire in the process.

Disorderly patron ends up with DWI
Elk River police were called to McCoy’s Pub June 9 for a disorderly customer. Before they arrived the man left the bar in a vehicle. Police located the car and arrested the 38-year-old Elk River man for second degree DWI.

Alleged assault raises concerns about child
A 24-year-old Elk River man was arrested June 8 for domestic assault after he allegedly threw a female party to the ground. A 20-month-old child was present during the altercation at the Elk River residence.

iPod Touch reported stolen from Salk
A juvenile female reported her iPod Touch was stolen at Salk Middle School during locker clean up. School surveillance video was checked without success in identifying a suspect.
