Farmers markets begin new season
The Nowthen Farmers Market, which opens June 21 with Burquest Bison as one of the vendors, is just one of a number of farmers markets open or about to open in the greater Elk River area.
Here are some of the others.
•Elk River Farmers Market: 2-6 p.m. Thursdays starting June 28 and running until Oct. 4. There will be no market on July 5. The market will be located in the new parking lot at 716 and 720 Main St., next door to Elk River Meats in downtown Elk River. \
•Zimmerman Farmers Market: 3-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 2. The market opened May 22. It is located at Fremont and Second Street.
•Rogers Farmers Market: 3:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 10. The market opened June 13. There will not be a market on July 4. On odd Wednesdays the farmers market will be held at the Rogers Activity Center, 21080 141st Ave N. On even Wednesdays it will be held at the Rogers Community Room, 21201 Memorial Dr.
•Nowthen Farmers Market: 3–7 p.m. Thursdays, beginning June 21. In its second year, the farmers market will be held at 199th Avenue and Nowthen Boulevard in Nowthen.
