Golf: Rogers boys tied for third at state tourney; final 18 today

The Rogers Royals are tied for third place, seven shots off the lead, at the midpoint of the state Class 3A boys golf tournament at Bunker Hills.

The Moorhead Spuds, seeking their first state title, hold the lead with 302, followed by Minnetonka 304, Rogers and Chanhassen 309, Forest Lake 315, Eagan 319, Rochester Century 323 and Roseville Area 324.

Corey Muenzhuber, a senior in his fourth state tournament, leads Rogers with 34-37-71 for third place individually.

Jon Detoit of Chaska heads the field with 35-34-69, followed by Moorhead’s Ben Welle with 35-35-70.

Kyle Korva, Rogers junior, is tied for 13th with 39-37-76.

Jordan Rykal, senior who tied for 10th last year (along with Muenzhuber), shot 39-42-81. He’s in a group tied for 50th along with Royal senior Zach Hnath (39-42-81).

The other Rogers scores are junior Morgan Rask’s 39-44-83 and senior Andy Suedbeck’s 45-46-91.

The final 18 will be held Wednesday starting 11:40 a.m.
