Police report: Bored teens, knife-wielding man and a reported bear sighting

It might be a long summer for two 16-year-old Elk River boys. Elk River police officers were called to Walmart June 3 after they were caught shoplifting perfume and items of clothing. The boys told police they were bored and wanted to see what shoplifting was like. Both found out what it was like to be cited for theft and were released to their parents.

Woman confronted by man with a knife

Elk River police took a 32-year-old Anoka male into custody for questioning on June 5 after they were summoned to Walmart on report of a man brandishing a knife shortly before midnight. The female victim told police she had finished shopping and loading her groceries into her vehicle when she got in her car to sit in her driver’s seat. She stated an adult male not known to her produced a knife and she fled the vehicle. Police located the suspect’s vehicle and took him into custody.

Ramsey man struck at Elk River crosswalk

An 18-year-old Ramsey man reported he was struck while crossing in a crosswalk on a bike on June 4 at the intersection of Elk Lake Road and Proctor Avenue in Elk River. The driver who struck him backed his vehicle up so he could remove his bike, but then drove away. Police are investigating.

Woman aggravated by Publishers Clearinghouse

A 58-year-old Elk River woman in the 300 block of Third Street has had it with Publishers Clearinghouse. She called Elk River police June 3 asking that the outfit be prosecuted, because she keeps receiving letters saying she has won $5 million but has never received any money.

Threatening remark got police’s attention

A 26-year-old Elk River woman in the 600 block of Auburn Place called police to report on the evening of June 3 a 28-year-old Milaca man inferred that he was going to bring a gun with him during a child exchange. Police located the male, who had no gun with him.

Boy, 15, with learner’s permit rolls vehicle 

Elk River police responded to a one vehicle rollover shortly before 1 p.m. June 3 in the vicinity of Meadowvale Road and 215th Court. The driver was a 15-year-old boy from Princeton driving on a learner’s permit. The driver was wearing sandals and sustained a cut on his right foot. He refused medical treatment; the passenger/parent stated the same thing.

Little Canada woman arrested for DWI

A 36-year-old Little Canada woman was arrested for DWI June 2 in the area of Main Street and Orono Parkway in Elk River during a CRASH detail by local law enforcement agencies. She was observed making a wide turn and was stopped.

Youth cited for texting while driving

A 17-year-old Elk River youth was cited for texting while driving in the 900 block of Proctor Avenue June 1. A letter was sent to his parents.

Bear reportedly seen in the area

A 33-year-old Elk River man reported on the morning of June 1 he saw a bear in the area of Monroe Court.

DWI issued to Anoka woman after speeding 

A 25-year-old Anoka woman was arrested for DWI after being stopped at 2:24 a.m. June 1 for speeding in the area of 193rd Avenue and Auburn Street in Elk River.

25-foot camping trailer taken from parking lot 

A 35-year-old Elk River man reported his 25-foot pull-behind Keystone camping trailer was stolen while it was parked in the 900 block of Highway 10 in the Martin Plaza parking lot.

The complainant reported the Keystone Passport Ultra Lite was taken sometime between 6:30 and 9 p.m. May 30.

Man, 31, cited for swiping video games 

A 31-year-old Princeton man was cited for theft after he allegedly took video games and food from Walmart in Elk River on the evening of May 30.

Elk River boy, 17, strikes school bus 

A 17-year-old Elk River boy was cited for failing to yield after he struck the side of a school bus at about 3:34 p.m. May 30 at the intersection of Twin Lakes Road and Industrial Circle in Elk River.

Scrap metal taken from Elk River man 

A 56-year-old Elk River man reported on the morning of May 31 the theft of scrap metal from the 17200 block of Ulysses Street. Estimated loss was $300. The theft occurred sometime overnight.

Boy cited for having drug paraphernalia 

Officers observed three juvenile males behind an apartment building at about 2:38 p.m. May 30 in the 800 block of School Street in Elk River.

One of the boys was also observed hiding items in his shoe. The 15-year-old Elk River boy was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
