Monticello man arrested in Big Lake Township fatal motorcycle crash
Investigators from the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) of the Sherburne County Sheriff’s arrested a 19-year-old Monticello man Monday for Criminal Vehicular Homicide and booked him into the Sherburne County Jail.
According to Sheriff Joel Brott, in April of 2012 the Sheriff’s Office, along with a number of other police and rescue agencies, responded to a motorcycle fatality on Sherburne County road 17 just south of Hwy 10 in Big Lake Township.
Brien Wickham, driver of the motorcycle, died at the scene and his passenger, Jacquelyn Lee, died later due to her injuries sustained from the crash.
Investigators from CID investigated the crash, which included taking statements from numerous witnesses, an accident reconstruction and an inspection of the Monticello man’s vehicle. Through that investigation, investigators believe that the man was operating his vehicle in a grossly negligent matter, which caused the death of Wickham and Lee.
He was taken into custody without incident and remains in the Sherburne County Jail pending arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted with the mapping and reconstruction of the crash by the Minnesota State Patrol.
