Frederick J. Labandz, 81, of Elk River, formerly of Northeast Minneapolis, died May 24, 2012.
He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He retired as general foreman for the city of Minneapolis sewer construction. He had a passion for “The Island,” flying, reading and history but most cherished, was his family.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 30 at Dare’s Funeral Home in Elk River. A private burial took place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Austism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.
Survivors include his wife, Roxanne (Winborn); children, Alex, Frank, Kelly (Dave), Rick (Jodi), Annette (Steve), and Lynne; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
