Track: Royals’ LeClaire qualifies for state in 3200

Rogers senior Caleb LeClaire qualified for the state track meet with a second-place finish in the 3200 meter run on Wednesday in Section 5AA.

LeClaire, a state cross country qualifier in 10th and 11th grades, earned his third state trip with a 9:43.18 time at Hamline. Brendan Sage of STMA won in 9:42.46.

Royal senior Madeline Schaeffer is perched to bid for a state trip after posting the best prelim time in the 300 hurdles, 46.19 seconds. She also advanced with seventh in the 300 hurdles.

Others advancing through prelims were Katherine Biah, seventh in the 100 dash; Kent Hoover, seventh in the 400 dash; and Kirsten Heikkinen, eighth in the 200 dash.

Most of the finals will be held Friday.
