The Rogers girls golf team ended its season on a positive note with a seventh-place finish at Section 5AAA on Thursday at Northfork in Ramsey.
“The girls posted a tremendous score today,” said coach Durand Onell, “beating last year’s team total by 30 strokes and moving up five places.”
Rogers shot 383, with junior Kendra Groenwold contributing a 91, sophomore Maddie Hol 94, sophomore Rachel Dodd 96 and senior Haley Jung 101.
“Groenwold really brought her ‘A’ game to Northfork today,” said Onell. The player’s 45-46 was a personal best.
Rogers shot 413 last year and placed 12th of 13.
Blaine placed first among 13 teams with 351. Individual champion was Maple Grove’s Jill Larson with 78.
Rogers will lose two senior regulars.
“We are going to miss our two senior captains Haley Jung and Stephanie Dodd,” said the coach. “They have been such good role models and the other golfers really look up to them.”
