Baseball: Thunder ousted by Annandale 6-3

The Zimmerman baseball season ended with a first-round playoff loss to the Annandale Cardinals, 6-3, on Tuesday in Annandale.

Kyle Connelly took the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) in 5 2/3 innings, including a two-run homer by Adam Rieger-Borer.

James Chapman got the win for the Cardinals (7-13).

Luke Schmit was 2-for-3 with a triple for Zimmerman. He scored on a squeeze bunt by Cullen Sroka, who was 1-for-2.

The Thunder, who finished 9-12,  lost their  regular-seaon finale to Breck 5-3 at home on Friday.

In that game, Tony Obinger belted a two-run homer for Zimmerman. Alex Borchardt pitched three scoreless innings. Brandon Sevrie gave up hree runs in three innings, and Takuma Padilla two runs in one inning.
