Golf: Rogers JV player got ace on her first swing at tournament
Rogers junior Kayleen Miller shot a hole-in-one, on her first swing of the day, in JV tournament on May 10 at Vintage Golf Course in Otsego.
Starting on the 100-yard No. 2 hole with a seven iron, her drive “hit the green, bounced twice, and disappeared.” Added Miller, who shot 78 for eighth place, “It took me six holes to calm down.”
Competition aces are rare. Certainly this was a first for Rogers girls, said coach Durand Onell. “The whole team is very proud of her,” he said.
Evidently, aces run in her family.
“My grandfather had two of them,” Miller said. “And I had a one-armed uncle who got one!”
