Inspired by an article about World Book Night, a celebration of reading that began last year in Great Britain and has since spread to the United States and Germany, Ken Sinkler plans to hand out 20 books at Lions Park in Elk River this week.
He will be at the park from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to hand out copies of “I know why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou. The book is one of 30 titles to be given away as part of World Book Night.
Sinkler hopes to get the books in the hands of parents and relatives of youth who will be at the park.
The Elk River man, who hopes to bring the love of reading to people, has read the book and said it’s quite humorous. “Some parts had me rolling,” he said.
