Abbie Lien delivered the big hit as the Rogers Royals continue to roll with an 8-4 conquest of first-place Big Lake on Thursday.
Rogers trailed 4-0 before scoring six runs in the fourth, sparked by Lien, a freshman second baseman, who came up with bases loaded and knocked them all home with a double to right center.
“Probably our best team effort of the year coming back from a 4-0 deficit against Big Lake who had only one loss coming into the game,” said coach Dan Ohlgren.
Christina Hajder pitched the distance, giving up four unearned runs early as the Royals made three errors. She struck out six and walked one, giving up eight hits. Big Lake freshman Jaiden Lund took the loss.
Kate Kemmetmueller was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI for Rogers. Hajder was 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs. Lien was 1-for-2, Leah Perreault 2-for-4, Madie Mikolich 1-for-3, Megan Sharp 1-for-3, and Jo Baker 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Rogers has won five straight games, and seven of eight, squaring their record at 5-5 in conference while improving to 10-7 overall. It was their second straight comeback win as they tipped Buffalo 8-6 Wednesday after trailing 5-0.
The Royals will host Monticello on Monday.
