Samuel Crawford McGhee, 59, of Elk River, died Friday, May 4, 2012.
His family says, “Picture Santa Claus riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle … twinkle in the eye and ready with a joke and a laugh … This was a man who loved life and refused to be constrained by traditional work and play.”
He had a gift of mixing business with pleasure, and was “successful in blending the two into several successful ventures … Hundreds, if not thousands, of organ recipients owe their lives to his organ solution, which kept donated organs viable for days instead of mere hours. This international company was just one of the many ideas Sam developed and brought to life.”
A celebration of his life will be held today (Saturday, May 12) at 1 p.m. at his home, 9351 Ermine Blvd. N.W., Ramsey.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice. Dare’s Funeral and Cremation Service of Elk River made the arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Lester and Barbara W. McGhee.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Sharon Schubert (Jason); son, Ryan Samuel (Elissa); grandchildren, Noah, Jamie, Paige and Ian Schubert; brother, Gregory; sister, Mary Chris Nichols (Warren); nephews; a niece; three great-nephews; a great-niece; and many cousins and great friends.
