The Rogers golfers lowered their school record to 286 with their sixth conference win of the season on Thursday in Buffalo while Jordan Rykal led the field with a 3-under-par 68.
The No. 3 ranked Royals, a state power the last three years, beat their school record by one as they also had Corey Muenzhuber placing third with 70 while Morgan Rask shot 73 and Kyle Korva and Zach Hnath had 75’s.
“This team has been working hard lately and it is a nice reward for that effort,” said coach Dan Bursheim. “The young guys have really picked it up in hopes of being part of the teams success.”
Rykal picked up his first tournament win of the year (Muenzhuber has been on fire with six) by knocking down five birdies against just two bogeys.
“Jordan has been close in many meets and has been working hard,” said coach Dan Bursheim. “To see him put it together was great. When his game gets going, Jordan has the ability to go pretty low.”
The Royals five-year Mississippi 8 win streak reached 30 matches. With one M8 match remaining they’ve clinched their fifth straight championship.
Next for Rogers is the St. Cloud Invitational next Thursday.
