The Elk River boys placed fifth among nine teams in the Section 4AAA true team meet at home on Tuesday, winning just one event, at ERHS’s Schempf Field.

Logan Grace, a junior, won the 300 intermediate hurdles and placed third in the 110 highs to lead the Elks. They also had a second-place finish in the 4-by-800 relay (names below).

Andover was champion and will advance to the state true-team meet next Friday in Stillwater.
Elk coach Brian Gilbertson noted a couple of nice improvements as Zach Brown got 44-1 in shot put, a personal best by four feet, for ninth place, and Kaleb Orrock triple-jumped 41-2 1/2, a PB by three feet, for sixth place. He also cited eighth-grader Ryan Trapp for a stellar 1:58 split in the 4-by-800.
