Softball: Cade, Pirates shut down Elks again 7-0

Park Center pitcher Nicola Cade blanked Elk River for the second time this season, 7-0, on Wednesday in Brooklyn Park.

Cade, senior righthander,  allowed just one hit, a single by Michaela Burns, and no walks, while striking out nine. She beat the Elks 6–0 on April 12.

Anna Pipenhagen took the loss, giving up nine hits and seven runs (three earned) in four innings. Courtney Jensen pitched two shutout innings, allowing four hits.

Kati Fern and Megan VanHulzen  each had three of Park Center’s 13 hits. Abby DeMorett and Tade each had a hit and two RBI.

Park Center, ranked No. 7 in Class 3A after winning the 2A championship the last two years, is 10-1 in conference and 13-1 overall.

The Elks, now  3-7 in conference and 5-8 overall, will host Rosemount on Friday.
