Kyle Connelly fired his second straight shutout as the Zimmerman Thunder finished a 5-0 victory over the Foley Falcons on Wednesday, a game that was suspended due to rain on Tuesday.
Connelly, senior righthander, struck out 11 and held the Falcons to four hits and three walks.
His previous shutout was a 6-0 no-hitter over Becker on Friday. He has a 5-4 record and has thrown 22 straight shutout innings including a four-inning no-hit effort against Milaca on May 1 that was also suspended by rain and will be concluded May 22.
The Thunder were leading 3-0 after three innings when rain intervened Tuesday.
Tony Obinger was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI single for the Thunder. Also notching RBI’s were Evan Bye (double) and Cullen Sroka (single).
Three Foley pitchers issued eight walks as the Falcons had scoring opportunities almost every inning.
The Thunder (3-5 conference, 5-7 overall) have two conference wins over Foley (3-5, 7-7).
Next for Zimmerman is a trip to Little Falls on Thursday to face the undefeated, top-ranked Class 2A team and Granite Ridge Conference leader.
