Golf: Elks 2nd in conference meet, Kline medals with 71

Alex Kline was individual winner with 71 as the Elk River golfers placed second in a Northwest Suburban Conference meet at Rush Creek on Monday.

Kline, a senior who’s leading the conference after three meets, shot 34-34-71. Placing second and third were Jack Lanou with 74 and Nick Adams with 76 for Maple Grove.

Maple Grove  won with 308, followed by the Elks with 311 and Anoka with 314 among 11 teams.

Elk junior Cooper Bleyhl shot 37-41-78 and freshman Garrett Turnacliff  39-39-78, tying for sixth place. The other counting score was senior Jordan Peterson’s 40-44-84.

After three meets, Maple Grove leads with 32 points, followed by Andover 29, Elk River 27 and Centennial 22.

The next Elk outing is a conference meet  at Loggers Trail in Stillwater next Wednesday.
