The Rogers Royals had RBI’s from six different players as they slugged out a 15-5 win over Zimmerman on Monday in Zimmerman.
“It was a nice win for us putting a complete game together with zero errors on defense and taking advantage of some walks and timely hitting,” said coach Dan Ohlgren.
Jo Baker was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer for the Royals (5-6). Christina Hajder was 2-for-4 (double, RBI), Courtney Reinitz 2-for-3 (RBI), Abie Lien 1-for-2 (RBI), Olivia Olson 1-for-3 (RBI), and Leah Perreault 1-for-2 (RBI).
Hajder pitched all five innings . Zimmerman got seven hits and two walks off her, with six strikeouts.
Zimmerman’s Heather McCormick was 2-for-4 (double, two runs), Katelyn Bauer 1-for-3 (two runs), Morgan Feldrick 2-for-3. Brooke Larson-Vabdeberg pitched the first 2 1/3 and Ashley Pool pitched the last 4 2/3.
“We are a young team and struggle with playing seveb clean innings,” said Thunder coach Emily Zahn about her 1-9 team. “If we can play a clean game defensively, and not let one error compound into five, we can be a very competitive team.”
She added that most of the younger girls will play summer ball to gain experience and game knowledge.
Zimmerman will host Milaca on Tuesday, Rogers will host Becker.
