Golf: Elks’ Kline fifth in Tri-State; team places 14th

Elk River senior Alex Kline tied for fifth place in the Tri-State Invitational on Friday and Saturday while the Elks placed 14th among 20 teams in the power-packed event.

Kline shot 74 on Friday and 79 for a 151 total on Saturday at Edinburgh USA in Brooklyn Park. The champion, Corey Muenzhuber of Rogers shot 147.

Rogers placed third with 311-316-627. Wayzata won with 312-300-612 followed by Eden PrairieĀ  304-315-619 and Rogers 311-316-627.

Elk River scored 339-334-673 as eighth-grader Jason Peterson shot 90-83-173, junior Cooper Bleyhl 89-86-175, senior Jordan Peterson 86-89-175, and freshman Garrett Turnacliff 91-86-177.

The Elks have a conference meet Monday at Rush Creek.
