Baseball: Royals split pair with Duluth East

The Rogers Royals managed just 11 hits in two games but came up with a split against Duluth East at home on Saturday.

The Royals (3-6) won the opener 5-4, with two RBI’s each from Will Terres (2-for-4) and Andrew Smith (2-for-2 plus a walk). Asher Seering of East threw a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts but the Greyhounds made five errors. Scott Neubauer and Michael Terres combined for a three-hitter with Neubauer (four innings, two runs) getting the win and Terres (three innings, two unearned runs) getting the save.

The Greyhounds (6-3) took the second game 4-2 as Nick Anderson worked six innings for the win and Darrin Zwas finished with a scoreless seventh. The Royals were limited to six singles and one walk, with Austin Barbeln 1-for-3 with an RBI. Kyle Rllis absorbed the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) in four innings.  Zach Grauf, Erik Bremer and Adam Nauth threw an inning each.
The Royals will play at Spring Lake Park on Monday.
