The ERZ girls lacrosse team defeated St. Cloud Tech 20-8 on Friday evening at home, sparked by Emily Antony with 8 goals and 4 assists.
ERZ (4-2) also had Kayla Mills with 4 goals and 4 assists, Mackenzie Perna with a goal and 7 assists, and Alix Zierden with 2 goals and 2 assists.
Emily Heid, Holly Skalsky, Jordon Mclaughlin, Kelsey Baker, Whitney Dunlevy all added one goal and Michelle Kilmstra, Kim Scott and goalie Tori Herrman each made an assist. Herrman took on 15 shots allowing 6 in net.
“The strength and development of this team has been demonstrated early in the season,” reflected coach Jeannette Bankes, citing close losses to a pair of top ten-ranked teams, to Champlin Park in double OT and Coon Rapids 11-9 along with multiple wins by 8 or more goals.
The coach labeled Mills (a senior), Perna (junior) and Antony (freshman) as “offensive powerhouses” while noting that the scoring has been spread out (nine had goals against Tech) and the defense has been solid.
The ERZ girls lost to Coon Rapids 11-9 there Wednesday. Antony had 3 goals and Kayla Mills 2 along with 4 assists. Kilmstra, Becca Leshovsky, Perna and Mclaughlin also scored. Herrman took on 25 shots allowing 11 in net.
ERZ will host Maple Grove on Monday, 6:30 p.m.
