Meeting set May 15 in local effort to help the homeless

Did you know that the school districts of Elk River, Big Lake and Monticello reported 79 children homeless during the 2010–11 school year?

There’s a way that people can get involved in helping these homeless children and families. Great River Family Promise is hosting a fundraiser and informational gathering regarding a cost-effective program designed to serve homeless families.

It will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15 at the Rogers Community Room. The speaker will be a former guest of an active Family Promise Affiliate who will shed light on the benefits of the organization to a community.

The event has been made possible by donations from the Rotary clubs of Rogers, Elk River and Monticello. There is no cost to attend the event.

RSVP by Friday, May 4 by calling Kate Hansen at 763-441-6061 or email her at katehansenmail@yahoo.com.

For more information, call Sandy Breed at 763-263-8678.
