Emily Antony knocked in the game-winner as Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman nipped Blaine 16-15 in double overtime at home Monday evening.
With just 30 seconds left in the second extra session, Antony scored from the front of the net after being set up by an excellent pass from Jordan McLaughlin.
The Elks (3-1) have played two straight double-OT game, losing the last one to Champlin Park.
“The competition in our district is getting better with the team having back to back games double OT,” noted coach Jeannette Bankes.
Antony tallied six goals, Mackenzie Perna five, Kayla Mills two, and Alleah Baltzer, McLaughlin and Becca Leshovsky one each.
Mllls, who leads the state in assists with 20, had seven against Blaine. Perna made three, Antony two, and Michelle Klimstra, McLaughlin, and Courtney Riestad one each.
The defensive wings, Baltzer and Reistad, led the defensive effort. Goalie Tori Herrman took on 28 shots allowing 15 in net.
ERZ will play at Coon Rapids on Wednesday, 7 p.m.
