Elk River softball had a 12-inning loss to Edina, 7-6, on Saturday, before beating Becker 4-3 for their first win in five outings, both at home.
Jess Neuman rapped five hits, including a homer, in eight at-bats, for the Elks, while Anna Pipenhagen pitched 15 innings and had a loss and win.
The Elks will play at Osseo on Monday.
Edina 7, Elks 6
The Elks tied the game with single runs in the last of the seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, and 11th innings, before the Hornets finally pushed ahead one more time and this time held the Elks in the 12th.
Cassie Clarke pitched all 12 innings for Edina, giving up 11 hits and walking just one, striking out 11. Courtney Jensen pitched the first four innings for the Elks, giving up two runs, and Anna Pipenhagen the final eight, giving up five runs. Edina had 13 hits.
Jess Neuman was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI for the Elks. Michaela Bruns was 2-for-4 (RBI) and Bethani Athey 2-for-5. For Edina, Morgan Johnson and Shannon Peterson each had two hits and two RBI.
Each team made for errors. Edina left 15 runners on base and the Elks left 12.
Elks 4, Becker 3
Pipenhagen pitched the distance for the win, striking out six, giving up five hits and four walks.
Neumann, soph infielder, was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. Athey was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Jenson was 1-for-4 and scored two runs.
Kacee Vesledahl pitched for Becker, giving up seven hits and two walks. Sarah Manning was 2-for-4 and Cassie Althoff had a hit and two RBI.
