Softball: Pipenhagen, Elks nip Rebels 1-0 for first win

Anna Pipenhagen twirled a six-hit shutout as Elk River softball picked up its first victory over  Champlin Park 1-0 Thursday  in Champlin.

Pipenhagen, sophomore righthander, struck out six and walked just one, and the Elk defense made just one error.

Her catcher, senior Bethani Athey, rapped two of the Elks’ six hits and drove home the game’s lone run. Jaime Langebehn, Michaela Bruns, Kathi Opsahl and Jess Neuman  were 1-for-3 and Langebehn scored the run.

Katie Herron pitched four innings and took the loss for the Rebels (2-2) and Cassie Meyer hurled three shutout frames. The Rebels made no errors.

Elk Riveer (1-3) will play at Osseo on Monday.
