Child put emotions to words

To say that 5-year-old Trystan Daley was excited for his father’s return home Tuesday from serving in Afghanistan would be an understatement.

“Whenever someone calls on the phone, he thinks I’m talking to his daddy,” Kami Daley says.

Her husband, George Daley, served one year in Afghanistan with NATO Forces and is coming home for good this time.

“In times past, we had a homecoming party at the airport,” Kami says, “but this time the troops will just be coming straight home.”

She adds that they had a poster-making party this week, and ended up with nearly 20 posters to honor George’s time serving his country.

Young Trystan, a budding writer who won Reading Frenzy BookShop’s Young Writer’s contest, also wrote a poem for school commemorating his father’s return.
