Golf: Martin, Elk girls are champs at BSM invitational

Sadie Martin and Ashlee Lindeen finished 1-2 individually as Elk  River won the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Invitational for the fourth straight year Monday.

Martin shot 77 and Lindeen 83 for the two low scores in the eight-team event at Riverwood National in Otsego. Both are seniors.

The Elks also had freshman Samantha Lindeen with 89 and junior Mary Elmquist with 91 as they totaled 340, with host BSM next at 365.

The Elks won this event the last three years at Wild Marsh in Buffalo, its normal site. Due to conditions of the greens on Monday it was moved to Riverwood.

The Elks will play at the Staple-Motley Invitational on Saturday.

Elks beat Pirates

The Elks won a conference dual over the Park Center Pirates 180 to 225 on Tuesday at Sundance. Martin shot 39, Ashlee and Samantha Lindeen 47’s, and Mary Elmquist 49. The Elks are 2-0 in conference, seeing their fourth straight title.
