The Zimmerman Thunder had beaten Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted five straight years, but the Lakers ended that streak on Tuesday, blanking the Thunder 3-0 in Winsted.
“We were oh-for-ten with runners in scoring position, and that’s how we lost,” said coach Matt Kraus.
The Thunder had six hits and five walks. Mack Riley had a single and two walks in three trips.
Takuma Padilla took the loss, giving up three runs (two earned) and eight hits in four innings. Evan Bye threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits.
Zimmerman (2-2) will host Foley on Thursday.
