Baseball: Buffalo downs Royals 9-6

In a duel of two squads looking for their first, the Buffalo Bison prevailed over the Rogers Royals 9-5 Tuesday at Buffalo.

The Royals (0-5) had nine hits, with Andrew Smith going 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Smith is hitting .471 (8-for-17).

Fielding was the culprit as the Royals had seven errors, leading to six unearned runs.

Blake Shermer took the loss, giving up seven hits, four walks and seven runs (one earned) in five innings.  Brayanlee Santiago-Martinez finished.

For Buffalo (1-4), soph outfielder Andrew Iverson was 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. Nick Mattson had two hits and two RBI and Jared Wycoff had a double, two runs and two RBI.  Jason Senger was the winning pitcher and  Brennen Gilyard got the save.

 Rogers will host Big Lake on Thursday.
