The Rogers Royals picked up their first win 6-5 over St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday at home.
“I was very pleased with our effort as we only committed one error and struck out only three times,” said coach Dan Ohlgren. “Every girl that had an at-bat (10 total) got a hit.”
Jo Baker belted a solo homer and a double in four trips for the Royals (1-2). Madi Mikolich was 2-for-3 with two runs. Alex Cassady singled home the tying run in the sixth after which the Royals scratched for two more runs.
Christina Hajder was one strike from finishing four shutout innings in relief when she hit the leadoff batter with a 1-2 count in the seventh, then gave up a triple to center. She got the No. 3 hitter on a come-backer to end the game (names not available), earning the win.
Kate Kemmetmueller pitched the first three innings, allowing four runs. Hajder had five strikeouts and Kemmetmueller one.
